Frequently asked questions

Do I need medical training to play?

No. The cases are written so that anyone can play, but they reward real clinical knowledge. Medical students and clinicians will recognise the classic presentations.

How many guesses do I get?

Six. Every wrong guess (or skip) reveals the next clue, so you always get more information — at the cost of a lower score.

How is my score calculated?

Solving on the first clue is worth 100 points, then 80, 60, 45, 30, and 20 for the sixth. A miss scores zero.

Are typos and abbreviations accepted?

Yes. Common synonyms, abbreviations, and minor spelling slips are accepted (for example heart attack, MI, or STEMI all count).

When does the daily case reset?

A new daily case appears every day at 00:00 UTC, the same puzzle for every player.

Is this medical advice?

No. Casecracker is for entertainment and education only and must not be used to make real clinical decisions.
